I find it amusing that I was listening to the new Kevin Morby album and paid attention to these words "Where God could be a dog

Barking in the dark

And if it goes pitch black would you come back?" And then read your lovely reflection. Excellent as always. Mount Eerie is one of my personal favorites, have you seen the documentary? https://youtu.be/_LBtwwLFfCU?si=ONSUw3CE9EqA6sJS

Woah, did not even know about this documentary! Thanks for that.

And what a strange synchronicity…I’ll have to listen to the new Morby now too, and give my dogs some extra treats tonight just in case they are God, as the signs seem to be indicating

I recently read and loved The Changeling, and I'm excited to read this one. Maybe all her protagonists find themselves in sad/creepy situations while wearing bathing suits.

The swimsuits become less common after she moves to Arizona, but the sadness/creepiness remains

I love those old Vintage Contemporary paperbacks, and am, following my Tarot guru Jodo, a Marseille purist. To me it’s the one true Tarot because it sprung from the collective unconscious and wasn’t created with a symbolic agenda like so many later decks.

I understand the appeal of RWS with the Marseille pip cards being so difficult to penetrate, but agree. While I wouldn’t call myself a Marseille purist, I definitely feel partial to it.

I only work with the major arcana a la Jodo…more archetypal

Florida is a horrible and disgusting place, and that's not even talking about its climate; so of course booze and transgression and cruelty are central to beach culture, Florida stories, and apt here. I've ordered my copy. It wasn't the cover (I find that era of Vintage Contemporaries not nearly as appealing as most here do; some are cool, some are meh, but all are too much a reminder of a vile and cursed decade I hated even when I was living in it), it was your relentless flogging here. So thanks.

Was reminded of Shock Waves (1977)...It gets across that poetic liminality of Florida beaches pretty well, perhaps even in spite of itself?
